People who work serious thing always blame that ‘Mac can’t do serious business’. It is quite frustrating for other to think OS X is lame in working environment.

Anyway I just discover that there’s no quick guide about setting up AMFPHP under Macintosh (Maybe due to it is too easy) so I decide to take some time to publish some notes here.

First, download two thing, AMFPHP of course and MAMP, the ultimate PHP & MYSQL package out there for OS X (yes I dunno how to deal with apache stuff)

Unzip both file and mount MAMP disk image. Drag and drop into default Application folder – OK, damn easy.

Drag the unzipped amfphp folder under /Application/MAMP/htdocs/

Back to /Application/MAMP/, launch MAMP.

It will automatically brings you to MAMP manager, should be in this link: http://localhost:8888/MAMP/

Open a new browser window (or tab) type in http://localhost:8888/amfphp/gateway.php

You will see below message:

amfphp and this gateway are installed correctly. You may now connect to this gateway from Flash.

Note: If you’re reading an old tutorial, it will tell you that you should see a download window instead of this message. This confused people so this is the new behaviour starting from amfphp 1.2.

Congradulation! amfphp is ready to use! About how to use amfphp and MAMP, check it out from the official website!

To this it out, put a HelloWorld.php under /Application/MAMP/htdocs/amfphp/services

Open http://localhost:8888/amfphp/browser/, this is the main window testing services out.

Click on HelloWord, you will see below window

Input anything in sMessage and click Submit Query. You will see the return message!
